First Day of School

My first day of kindergarten at Yinghua Academy was Thursday, August 30th.

After school, Mama and I went out for muffins and smoothies.  It was a great first day!

First "Real" Loose Tooth

Look closely-- I'm wiggling the bottom tooth on the right with my tongue.
After about half an hour and eating some carrot sticks, the tooth came out!

I'm so excited for the tooth fairy to come tonight!

Self-Inflicted Haircut

Notice something missing?

Mama was certainly surprised to find that part of my bangs were gone this morning when I awoke. Let's just say that I was busy making art projects with my scissors and construction paper before going to bed.

The above picture was taken right after Mama made me confess. Once I realized that I was in trouble, I asked her if she thought it might have been an accident. She didn't think it was possible that this happened accidentally.

Mama found my "missing" hair under the kitchen table, but there was nothing she could do except cut my bangs some more. Fortunately, she was able to sort of fix it before I had to go to daycare.

Tae kwon do

I had a lot of fun learning how to do punches and kicks in Master Griffin's Tae kwon do course.

My favorite part of class was at the end where we sparred with swords and shields. Anyone else want to take me on?

Weekend at the Solie cabin

Uncle Jon and Auntie Alysa invited us to spend the weekend with them at their cabin, and we went swimming every day!
Auntie Alysa helped me practice using my new kickboard...she has a great imagination just like me, so I really liked playing with her!

Mama's meeting

Mama had her annual retreat at the Minnesota zoo this year,
so she brought me along!I hung out with the prairie dogs while Mama was at meetings.
Just kidding! Actually, mama picked me up from daycare after her meetings, and then I got to hang out with her and her classmates during their free time. Can you see the moose? He is a bit elusive...
and the grizzly bear is a little scary when it's only a window separating you from it.
Here is a real Komodo dragon from Indonesia-- Mama assured me that it can't blow out fire like the ones in the movies, though, so it's safe.
Who is bigger-- Devorah or the shark?

My friends Jane & Emmett

Jane & Emmett came over, so we all went for a walk to the lake.

4th of July

The 4th of July weekend was wonderful! It started Saturday morning, with Grandma Linda, Daddy, Mama, and I all getting up early to run the Fishy 4 mile race. I didn't wake up quite early enough-- if you look closely, you'll notice that I "ran" the race in my pajamas! I really liked that they gave out bottles of water every mile and people cheered for us and waved most of the race. I waved back, and cheered on the other participants-- especially Grandma Linda!

After the parade, Grandma Linda and I baked this strawberry shortcake for our 4th of July picnic. It was delicious!

The fireworks were too much fun to waste time posing for pictures... this was the best shot that Mama could get...
The next day, we went to Grandma Lucy's house, and I went horsebackriding. If you can't tell, I really had a fun weekend, and didn't want to go home to Minneapolis!
